Fully trained Level 3 Pilates instructor in Exeter, I was one of the first in the area. When I initially trained nearly 20 years ago Pilates was still a relatively new phenomenon in Exeter.

Local community Pilates classes offer you a friendly, approachable environment. My aim is to make Pilates fun and I endeavour to explain ‘what is Pilates?’ in a clear, simple and concise way. Teaching Pilates requires a good skill base as well as experience and of course, the most up-to-date qualifications and that is where my Level 3 Pilates qualification is important. You will use the minimal amount of Pilates equipment to ensure that the classes and DVDs are available and accessible to everyone 🙂 It took me a while to become a Pilates instructor and base myself in Exeter. After leaving university with a degree in Law & Politics and while working in Edinburgh, I was offered a job at Saatchi & Saatchi. After 8 years of working and post-graduate studying towards my marketing post-graduate qualification (Chartered Institute of Marketing CIM), I was exhausted and not in the best physical or mental shape. That’s when I discovered the transformative power of Pilates. I decided to pursue certification as an instructor, and now I’m happily teaching Pilates to clients here in Exeter, helping them improve their physical fitness and mental well-being. Whilst in that stressful managerial role I often used to disappear at lunchtimes for a quick de- stress ‘fix’ from my local fitness centre. I enjoyed the friendly class environment and began to appreciate what works as a fitness instructor and a Pilates instructor. I understood how to manage and look after classes and began enrolling in nutrition courses. After leaving the world of marketing, to coin a phrase ‘I have never looked back’. I originally studied nearly 20 years ago, with Michael King at ‘The Pilates Institute’ in London and have been back for further updates throughout my Pilates career, with other Pilates providers. I believe to become a successful Pilates instructor in Exeter, you need to keep updating your knowledge base and qualifications. I am also qualified to teach a wide variety of classes – aqua aerobics, studio aerobics, toning classes, Body Pump, step and spin, as well as core strengthening on stability balls. Fitness is my true passion and belief, and I bring this dedication to my role as a Pilates instructor here in Exeter, helping clients achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall well-being. After the birth, in quick succession of two more babies, I decided to focus mainly on teaching Pilates and nutrition, although I supplement this with running (badly) as part of my overall fitness.

Originally designed to help rehabilitate athletes and dancers, Pilates works for the extremely aerobically fit as well as those who are less so, and for those who are suffering from back discomfort. As a Pilates instructor in Exeter, I’ve witnessed firsthand its transformative effects on people of all fitness levels, guiding them towards better physical health and well-being.

I firmly believe that continuous studying and research are required to maintain an up-to-date, effective Pilates teaching standard. Original Pilates instructor qualifications are extremely valid, but updating qualifications and keeping abreast of industry progressions are vital for Pilates instructors in Exeter.
