5 Powerful reasons why you should Practice Pilates

Pilates uses simple yet effective poses that focus on low-impact flexibility and muscular strength. It is a total-body workout that uses your abs, thighs, hips, and lower back through strengthening and repetitive movements.

Pilates is great for people of all fitness levels, suitable for athletes to fitness novices and even those rehabilitating from injuries. It is also a very flexible workout with lots of variations and modifications for beginners and advanced practitioners, it is great for those who play tennis, golf, and new mums wanting to get back into shape.

1. Full-Body Workout

Pilates engages your core and helps you to develop balanced muscle strength throughout your entire body. It also helps you develop long, lean, and toned muscles, and increases your overall flexibility and range of motion in your joints. Pilates is an intense workout and draws on your focus on one part of your body at a time.

2. Increased Energy

Pilates gives you increased energy. The more you exercise, the more energy you will have. Pilates gets your blood circulating, breath flowing and stimulates all of the muscles in your body to feel energised. Clients often tell me how they feel well and have more energy as the feel good hormones, endorphins rush through your body

3. Prevents injury

A strong, balanced body is less likely to be injured, while an imbalanced body will lead to injury and pain. Pilates has been known to be a rehabilitative tool that can improve back pain without the need for medication. Pilates works all of the muscles in your body, leaving no muscle group over or undertrained.

4. Mind and Body Awareness

Whilst practicing Pilates, you will move with complete attention and intention. You centre your mind and focus on your breath, spinal and pelvic alignment and concentrate on your body’s precise movements, control and flow.

You release tension and unite your mind and body by being mindful of your movements.

5. Strong abs and core

Poor posture can cause imbalances in your back, head, shoulders, neck and even hips, causing pain throughout your body. Good posture is achieved by a strong core, which includes the muscles in your back, abdomen and pelvic floor. A strong core supports your body and allows your shoulders and neck to relax and release stress and pressure.

Pilates offers numerous benefits for people of all ages, fitness capabilities and backgrounds. It offers a head-to-toe workout that can challenge you and quite literally transform your body, increasing your flexibility, strength and balance. Whether you are looking to tone up, lose weight or simply spice up your existing exercise routine, Pilates is a great workout choice

I began pilates classes with Adele a few years ago, seeking a physical reconnection and confidence boost after finishing a degree in dance and then having two children. After a few months, I began running again, finding a much-needed balance in my life – in more ways than one! I felt stronger and more flexible and the world was a brilliant place once again. But then disaster struck! Work commitments meant I had to stop going to my pilates classes. Before too long, I felt the familiar weakness in my back that I hadn’t felt for years, and my running took a turn for the worst. I contacted Adele for advice and was delighted to receive these DVDs in the post. This box set of Pilates and Cardio DVDs is not only excellent value for money but caters for every energy level and satisfies every workout desire. The workouts are short enough to do every day before or after work, and give your body and mind a real boost. They are fun and quirky, sitting comfortably within everyday life. They come across as being personal too; as if they have been choreographed just for you. It’s like having Adele in my very own lounge. And, yes, I am very pleased to say that everything is back in place (love the pun) and I feel like I have found my very own tool kit, just in case I need it.
